Six riders in hi-vis with lights on, gathered with their bikes in a car park at dawn before the Birr 200

Audax is long-distance, non-competitive cycling.

Ride 200 km or more on a set route, at your own pace but inside a time limit. Nobody wins: everyone who finishes has done it.

Early starts, late controls, good company.

How a ride works

  1. Enter online

Enter online through Eventmaster with a Cycling Ireland licence. You don't need to be a club member. Most rides add you to a WhatsApp group.

  2. Ride between controls

Follow the route at your own pace. At each control, post a photo to the ride's WhatsApp group as proof you passed. Your brevet card lists the controls.

  3. Finish inside the time limit

Once you start, the clock doesn't stop, not for café stops and not for rests.

  4. Get the ride validated

The organiser checks your proof of passage. BRM results are also homologated by Audax Club Parisien in France, and the ride then counts towards awards.
