Asia Award

Three 1,200 km events in three different Asian countries, one of them South Korea, within three years. Korea Randonneurs runs the award free of charge, and Les Randonneurs Mondiaux (LRM) recognises it as one of its international awards. It sets out to bring riders from around the world to Asia’s long events, and Asian riders to events beyond their own country.

How it works

Ride three qualifying events, each in a different country in Asia, and make one of them an event in South Korea. The award began on 1 January 2024, so earlier events don’t count.

Korea Randonneurs’ rules say only that the three must be ridden within three years. The tracker counts the three years from the day of your first event, as ACP does for its Randonneur awards: a run that starts with a Korean event on 7 December 2024 stays open until 6 December 2027. If the three years pass before the third event, the count starts again from your next one.

What counts

Any event LRM sanctions in Asia, which means the 1,200 km and longer brevets on LRM’s calendar: the Korea 1200 and 1500, the Hokkaido 1200 and Tokyo 1900 in Japan, the Peninsular 1300 in Malaysia, the Bekal 1200 in India and the rest. A 1,000 km BRM doesn’t count, nor does a permanent, however long. Browse the World calendar by distance to find them.

Countries

Each of the three events must be in a different Asian country, and one must be in South Korea. Two Korean events count once. The tracker places countries in continents as it does for the ISR’s continent designations: Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Armenia count as Europe, while Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan each count as a country of their own. Where Korea Randonneurs see a country differently, their view wins.

Applying

  • The Audax.ie tracker lists your rides, ready to copy in, once you’ve done it: sign in. The form is linked from Korea Randonneurs’ application page, and asks for your name, club and country, the three events with their years, proof that you finished each (LRM homologation numbers, or Strava records), the address to post the souvenir to, and a photo for the Hall of Fame if you’d like one.
  • The application goes by e-mail, to the address on that page, rather than through a web form.
  • Winners receive a souvenir by post and are listed in the Asia Award Hall of Fame. The full rules are on Korea Randonneurs’ Asia Award page.
  • Checking your results shows where each homologation number comes from.

In the tracker

The LRM tab on your progress page shows your three events, the country of each, and whether one is in South Korea yet. The tracker counts your RM rides of 1,200 km or more ridden in Asia, so make sure each has its country set. When the three are done, Claims records your claim, reserves the rides and gives you a list of them to copy into the e-mail; the claiming awards help has the steps.
