ACP Randonneur 5000 and 10000

Audax Club Parisien’s two distance awards are the long game of randonneuring: 5,000 or 10,000 km of brevets, Paris-Brest-Paris and a Flèche, inside four or six years. Few riders finish one, and every Irish rider who has did it one qualifying ride at a time.

What each asks for

The periods start from your first qualifying ride, not from today: four years, to the day, for the Randonneur 5000, and six years from the first event for the Randonneur 10000. A longer brevet can’t stand in for a shorter one in either series.

The climbing BRM for the Randonneur 10000 replaced a Super Randonnée from 1 November 2022; SR600s explains both. The climbing ride stands apart from your two series, so they still need two other 600 km BRMs. Rides you used for a Randonneur 5000 can count again towards a 10000.

What counts as extra distance

• BRMs of any distance, beyond the ones in your series.
• Paris-Brest-Paris, counted as 1,200 km.
• A Flèche, at the distance your team actually rode; at least three riders must finish.
• Rides of 1,200 km and more, recognised by Les Randonneurs Mondiaux.
• A Flèche de France on one of its routes from Paris, ridden at Gold or Silver speed; not the Bronze option, and not the Dieppe route.
• A Super Randonnée only if homologated by 31 October 2022. For the Randonneur 5000 that allowance runs out with the 31 October 2026 deadline.

Irish permanents, 100 km events and anything not homologated by ACP or LRM don’t count.

Applying

   Gather your numbers

   Every ride goes on the form with its date and homologation number. Checking your results shows where to find them.

   Get ACP’s form filled in

   The Audax.ie tracker fills it in for you, with your rides and details, once you’ve done it: sign in with Strava. Or use the blank form on ACP’s pages for the Randonneur 5000 and the Randonneur 10000, which asks for every ride’s date and homologation number.

   Send it by 31 October

   Riders outside France apply through their national ACP representative, which for Irish riders means through Audax Ireland. They check it and send it to ACP.

   Your medal arrives

   The Randonneur 5000 medal is free, and each award comes with a numbered certificate. They usually reach Audax Ireland in January.

Building towards one

The rare rides decide your timing. Paris-Brest-Paris comes every four years, next in August 2027. BRMs of 1,000 km are scarce in Ireland, though one is planned for 2027, so you may need to travel for them, and the Randonneur 10000 needs two within six years. Plan those first, and let 200s, 300s and extra rides fill the distance around them.

In the tracker

Each award has a card on your progress page, with a tick for each requirement and a bar for the distance. Tap it for the rules and the dates it’s counting.

The progress page looks back four or six years from today, so an older ride can drop out of view even though ACP would still count it from your first ride. With projections on, the whole window moves forward to your furthest planned ride, and older rides can drop out of that view too. Find Past Awards checks periods ending on 31 October, so a set that runs across a different date may need checking by hand.

For climbing ridden before November 2022, the tracker accepts a Super Randonnée with 10,000 m or more as progress towards the Randonneur 10000. Check a claim built on one with Audax Ireland’s ACP representative before you send it.
